Collective x Slow Clay is our annual end of year exhibition designed to encourage the serious collection of ceramics. It’s all about supporting artists and inspiring our students! Win-win!
We apologise that we won’t be able to hold the Collective X in 2021 but we will be aiming to bring wonderful ceramics to you again in real life at the end of 2022! We will leave this page up so you can see what it is all about. Thank you to everyone who attended over the past 8 years and helped support artists. Your support means so much.
You are warmly invited to COLLECTIVE X SLOW CLAY: Limited Edition 2020, our annual contemporary ceramics exhibition.
This year has been a bit, well, limited. Especially in Melbourne. Many artists have not had access to their studios for many months, working at their kitchen tables instead and with all galleries closed many exhibitions were cancelled. We were thinking we would have to cancel our annual Collective X too! However we have decided to run it online and call it Limited Edition 2020! So we have invited ten of our favourite artists to show ten pieces each and interpret the theme Limited Edition in whatever way they choose.
Susan Robey has responded with a series of miniature dark houses reminding us of a long dark winter at home. David Ray’s menacing riot cops are on the prowl, but covered in flowers they are thankfully rendered harmless. Prue Venables’ porcelain and silver gilt tea strainers brighten our post-lockdown teas with friends and Jane Sawyer’s Collapse Series speak of the year that barely stood up.
This Collective is looking likely to be the perfect antidote to the horrors of 2020 and we welcome you to view it here, online, from 1 – 13 December or in the studio, 11-4 daily.
