TENT TALKS @The Pottery Expo

Join the Slow Clay team on the banks of the Yarra River at Warrandyte during the last weekend in February each year for the annual Pottery Expo featuring over 60 stalls showing studio ceramics from established to emerging practitioners. The Pottery Expo is a much-loved annual festival and not only can you see and collect unique ceramics, there’s also fabulous bands, food, wine and…..ta da….TENT TALKS by us at Slow Clay Centre! Bring your swimmers and make a day of it beside the river!

TENT TALKS: are at 12.30pm and 3.30pm both days under the large tent near the main entrance. We will present a panel of artists to discuss a topic of interest under associated with ceramics. Entry is FREE and no bookings are required. We encourage you to stay around afterwards for a Q&A session with the artists. Topics are designed to open your minds to ceramics and present some of the artists’ ideas! Educational and fun!

The 2020 program: 

Saturday 22/2 12.30pm: Open Wide, Look InsideMegan Patey, Neil Hoffmann and Bernard & Jenny Kerr take you into their studios and their inspiration for their ceramics.

Saturday 22/2 3.30pm: Studio Options: Co-operatives, shared studios and single spaces, speakers TBA.

Sunday 23/2 12.30pm: The UK Visitors: Richard Phethean and John Higgins discuss their work and inspiration. They have come to Australia to participate in Take It Out Of The Garden, an exhibition at Manningham Gallery.

Sunday 23/2 3.30pm: Take It Out Of The Garden: Curator David Warnock discusses the upcoming Slipware exhibition at Manningham Gallery with some of the exhibiting artists.

Sunday 24/2 11am: Open Wide: Come Inside an intimate look into three artists’ studios with Mary Lou & Chris Pittard, John Tuckwell & Gloria Malone, and Kevin Boyd
Sunday 24/2 3pm: The Chef & The Potter Potters and chefs discuss their collaborations, with Sue & Hayden Macfarland, Woodland House, Altair Restaurant and Cone 11 ceramics
