Holiday Studio Access Times (H-SATs)

Welcome to H-SATs, our holiday studio access which provides independent studio time for our pottery community! H-SATs offer experienced* adult students (16+) the opportunity to work independently in our studio during the holiday break. The price includes use of all our facilities including clay and glazes, wheels, slab-roller, extruder, tools etc. H-SATs run in between terms as our schedule allows. Please see the drop down menu for available dates when available.
Fee: $40 per 3-hour session, fully inclusive. Bundle discounts when booking 4-6 sessions at a time ($35 and $30 per sesh). Email info@slowclay.com or phone 99437844 for bundle booking assistance.
*Who can book: H-SATs are designed for students who have previously taken classes at Slow Clay Centre and are familiar with our studio practices. New students are very welcome but must have experience and must contact us at info@slowclay.com or 99437844 before booking to have a chat!
Important: This is quiet, independent studio time. Students work on their own projects from start to finish. Students are expected to know our studio well enough to work without assistance.
Note on timing: if you wish to complete pieces you will generally need to book three sessions: Making, Trimming/Decorating, and Glazing. You will need to allow time for us to fire your pieces in between sessions. Unless you are returning in Term 4, all work must be completed – or recycled – by the end of the holiday period.
Studio Guidelines
- Materials: Unlimited studio clay (Bennetts Midfire) and studio glazes available for NON-COMMERCIAL use only.
- Studio atmosphere: This is focused work time. Please keep conversations to a minimum and move outside for extended discussions to respect others’ concentration.
- Storage: We have limited storage space and do not allow work over 30cm.
- Firing costs: $20/kg for all firings (payment due on collection)
- Collection: Finished pieces must be collected within one week of firing notification.

*Terms and conditions:
- Cancellations: If you need to cancel we can transfer you to a future date for no fee but you must let us know at least 24 hours beforehand. If you don’t tell us then we won’t transfer you. No refunds given.
- Please note: We reserve the right to cancel SATs at short notice (if staff are sick for example) or when workshops or events take priority. If we cancel we will always SMS you and provide a full refund or transfer you.
- Bookings: Bookings are required (see buttons on left) and payments made in advance.
- Beginners: If you are a complete beginner this is not for you, sorry! There are no teachers.
