Sophie studied Ceramics and Sculpture at the VCA and Art Curatorship at the University of Melbourne in the 1990s. She pursued a career in Marketing for ten years before returning to clay to pursue her passion full time. She has been a practicing ceramicist for over a decade, working from her studio in Brunswick. She loves to incorporate found clays into her work, enjoying the random, unpredictability they bring.
Sophie is an enthusiastic teacher, drawn to sharing her love of clay and the soothing, meditative space that wheel throwing inspires. Sophie teaches in the Intermediate/Advanced wheel program. She is familiar with the Slow Clay method as well as western style and embraces an experimental, fluid approach to making.
